Inspired by Beckett’s famous ethos “Dance first, think later,” the film explores the many parts of the literary genius’ life: Parisian bon vivant, World War II Resistance fighter, Nobel Prize-winning playwright, philandering husband, and recluse.

昨年好評だったアイルランド映画祭が今年も2024年5月31日(金)― 6月13日(木) に開催決定。
不条理劇「ゴトーを待ちながら」などで知られるアイルランドの作家サミュエル・ベケットの栄光と波乱に満ちた人生を描いた『まずは踊れ』、アイルランドのケリー県の田舎町を舞台にしたボート競技に全てを賭ける女性たちの青春ストーリー『あのボートに乗って』、アイルランド人の心の故郷アイリッシュパブについてのドキュメンタリー『アイリッシュパブ』の日本初公開作品３作品と、アイルランドのアニメーションスタジオ“カートゥーン・サルーン”２５周年を記念して上映する短編感動アニメ『レイト・アフタヌーン』、アイルランドを代表する作家ジェイムズ・ジョイスの原作を名匠ジョン・ヒューストンが映画化した『ザ・デッド「ダブリン市民」よりデジタルリマスター版』、アカデミー賞国際長編映画賞にノミネートされた９歳の少女が経験したひと夏の成長物語『コット、はじまりの夏』。また昨年日本でも大ヒットを記録した北アイルランドのベルファスト男子小学校で哲学的思考によって解決を目指す校長先生と子供たちを追ったドキュメンタリー『ぼくたちの哲学教室』、昨年惜しくも亡くなったアイリッシュバンド“ザ・ポーグス”フロントマンのシェイン・マガウアンを追ったドキュメンタリー『シェイン 世界が愛する厄介者のうた』、８作品を上映。
映画祭期間中はトークイベント等の予定も。

The feast of Epiphany is one of the highlights of the season in Dublin. Kate and Julia Morkan and their niece, Mary Jane, throw a grand party to mark the occasion. However, the evening stirs up memories for Gretta, the wife of their favourite nephew, Gabriel, about a brief and innocent romance from her youth. A romance which was cut short by the death of the man.
