ーーHow has the spread of COVID-19 affected the initiative’s lifestyle and creative activities?
Kisshomaru : I have been minimizing the time I socialize with people and going out so I have more time spent by myself in my house. Creatively, because of COVID-19 hosting exhibitions and photoshoots that involve having models has become difficult.
ーーーーPlease share your thoughts and realizations about the current situation and anything in particular you have become aware of that has changed you or the initiative in any way.
Kisshomaru : Our generation has become so accustomed to living within society’s system. We have to start questioning ourselves, what kind of relationship humankind has with society, value, politics…
ーーAs a person in your position or a creator, how are you trying to prepare yourself menatlly and physically for the lockdown?
Kisshomaru : Mentally, I have tried to keep up a positive attitude by being in touch with films, music, books and manga. Communicating has now become online, but it is important to never stop thinking. Physically, I have been trying to live a healthy lifestyle at its bare minimum by stocking up on necessary food and living supplies.
ーーIn light of your own activities, what kind of ‘creation’ or artistic endeavors are possible indoors?
Kisshomaru : Writing plots for films and creating arts projects.
ーーPlease share any recommendations or ideas on how to use digital platforms to their full extent during the circumstances regarding COVID-19 or any measures that one can take themselves to use this opportunity for better and not for worse.
Kisshomaru : The extra time that is now in our hands can be considered a luxury so take this opportunity to train your mind and body.
ーーDuring this time is there anything you or the initiative would like to challenge yourself with?
Kisshomaru : Stil in the midst of finding something.
ーーAfter situations concerning COVID-19 improves, what would you like to do?
Kisshomaru : Picnic.
ーーDo you agree with the measures taken by the government in your own country? If not, what other measures would you recommend taking?
Kisshomaru :Their approach should consider the country’s citizens health and safety first rather than putting a priority on trying to maintain the political system. In short term, they should consider providing economic compensation in all sectors as well as financial support and material needs towards hospitals and medical institutions. In long term, providing quality education, supporting the arts and culture institutes. Last, we must foster a strategy to create a sustainable society where nature and animals can live together in peace.
Humankind has developed in correlation with diversity. It may be difficult to go back to the way we used to live before the pandemic in the future. Realistically speaking, COVID-19 can be considered a form of diversity that is necessarily for our evolution. To reconsider the pre-existing societal systems that we live by and what we consider common sense, humanity, the ‘self’ and our purpose should all be questioned. Politically, we have to individually hold our responsibilities around our lives and take specific actions.
